Writing Time

I spent the morning in the library with a friend. We book a free writers’ room and set half-hour timers to focus on various things. The rule is no talking until the timer goes off. We’re talkers.

I don’t have any specific projects right now, though, like all writers, I have a dozen half-finished babies on the hop that I never want to look at again. Today, I was able to at least countenance the idea of going back to unfinished projects and trying to polish them up enough to at least be readable.

Also, I’ve cued up the first newsletter for an international arts program that’s coming to Hobart in August. Looks VERY cool, if I do say so myself. Which I do, because I didn’t design it, I just input everything into the newsletter management system.

In a lot of ways, this is a bit like working at the writers’ center. I think I did it because I felt like I’d never be able to make anything cool myself. Like I’m not good enough for that. So the only thing I can do is support real artists and creatives to bring their work to life.
